Elaine Stein

Elaine Stein, the TBWA Worldwide General Counsel, since 2004 has acted as the network’s Chief Legal Officer. In her role, Elaine provides legal guidance on a global basis with respect to all range of matters that arise across the collective and its businesses; crafts and executes upon creative solutions for mission-critical challenges; facilitates timely resolution of highly sensitive matters; advises management with respect to a wide range of transactions including acquisitions and other strategic initiatives; and helps identify, assess and manage areas of legal risk across the company.

Areas in which Elaine focuses upon include personnel matters; client contracts; advertising, brand and trademark protection; mergers and acquisitions; IT; intellectual property; litigation, alternative dispute resolution and pre-litigation counseling; shareholder relationships; security, privacy, and regulatory matters.

Prior to joining TBWA, Elaine was a Corporate Partner in the New York office of the global law firm Orrick LLP.

Elaine earned dual undergraduate degrees from The University of Pennsylvania (Bachelor of Arts majoring in Psychology from the College of Arts and Science and a Bachelor of Science majoring in Economics from The Wharton School of Business); and earned her law degree (Juris Doctor) with honors from The Benjamin M. Cardozo School of Law in New York, in 1993.
